Can't couldn’t do nothing. Keep trying until you figure out the best way for you to do it. Not everyone has to do things the same way. Kindness matters. Without love, in the dream, it will never come true. -- Instilled in me from birth is the certainty that women are strong, capable leaders, encouragers, and providers.
My great-great grandmother Hilligoss, along with her husband, owned and operated a grocery and bakery in Indianapolis. The business is still running as a bakery/donut shop in Brownsburg, Indiana. I was so fortunate to have her in my life until I was a freshman in high school when she passed at the age of 103.
My great grandma Kennedy was a craftswoman, up-cycling, DIY queen even before there was such a thing. She could make something amazing out almost anything. Her quilts were beautifully created with a keen eye for color, pattern, and style.
Grandma Skelton worked full-time for the phone company, raised three kids, and helped manage the business side of the family farm. She was full of passion, faith, and spunk. Her homemade pies were worth every bite. I remember picking cherries from the tree in the side yard. And her lemon meringue pie, OMGoodness!
Last, but certainly not least, my mom has been my rock and inspiration. She girded me through my darkest days and encouraged me even on the smallest triumphs. Selfless. Hard-working. Compassionate. Unstoppable. She joined the Army as a single mom to make certain my brother and I always had what we needed. She advanced to retire as a Lieutenant Colonel, having served in a medial unit Germany during Desert Storm. So, here I am at the beginning of this grand adventure.
I find my own life overflowing as a scout mom, graphic designer, music-lover, mountain-dweller, beach-dreamer, art-lover, hope-dealer, and follower of Christ. It is often times difficult to fit all my loves into my life, but I enjoy trying. Praying, believing, working to make this business as successful as possible for my own children and the ones that will one day come after them. My hope is that these designs will bring joy to you as well. The great outdoors and my love of music are my greatest sources of inspiration for these pieces. If you look closely, I think you will see the connection.
